In macroeconomics, money supply refers to the total volume of money held by the public at a particular point in time. There are several ways to define "money", but standard measures usually include currency in circulation and demand deposits. Money supply data is recorded and published, usually by the national statistical agency or the central bank of the country. Empirical money supply measures are usually named M1, M2, M3, etc., according to how wide a definition of money they embrace. The precise definitions vary from country to country, in part depending on national financial institutional traditions.

मुद्रा आपूर्ति किसी अर्थव्यवस्था में किसी समय पर उपलब्ध पूरी मुद्रा (पैसे) की मात्रा होती है। इसका माप अर्थव्यवस्था में प्रयोग हो रही मुद्रा और बैंकों में जमा पैसे का जोड़ होता है। आमतौर पर किसी भी देश में इस मात्रा पर उस देश का केन्द्रीय बैंक नियंत्रण रखता है, मसलन भारत में यह ज़िम्मा भारतीय रिज़र्व बैंक का है। मुद्रा आपूर्ति को केन्द्रीय बैंक मुद्रा छापकर बढ़ा सकता है। यदि किसी अर्थव्यवस्था में [आर्थिक वृद्धि दर]] से अधिक तेज़ी से नोट छापकर मुद्रा आपूर्ति बढ़ाई जाए तो देश में मुद्रास्फीति (महंगाई) बढ़ती है। उदाहरण के लिए जब ज़िम्बाबवे ने मुद्रा आपूर्ति में तेज़ी से वृद्धि करी तो वहाँ अतिस्फीति (hyperinflation) की स्थिति उत्पन्न हो गई, जिसमें देश की मुद्रा लगभग बेकार हो गई और देश को अमेरिकी डॉलर को अपनी मुद्रा के लिए प्रयोग करना पड़ा।
